MAINTENANCE CALORIES - WHY ARE THEY IMPORTANT?

Whether your goal is to lose fat or put on weight, this calculator can be used to determine your body's Daily Maintenance Calories. Your Maintenance Calories relate to the level of energy your body requires to remain the same weight. The calculation is based on something called your basal metabolic rate (BMR), and your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE).

 

Your RMR relates to the total number of calories your body expends each day when you are only resting. This can be affected by a number of factors, such as gender, age, weight & body composition. To determine a more accurate measure of your total daily calories burned, you will need to take into account your daily activity levels.
